Quarantine Quotes – 7 Quotes in 70 Days

Well, it has been 70 days since I last went to work and since we have been on quarantine here in New Jersey. I think the official edict came a few days later, but for me, I have been home for 70 straight days now. Don’t get me wrong, I have gone out to the store here and there, but for the most part, I have been home like everyone else. Every. Single. Day.

However, I am very fortunate. I am getting paid through the end of the school year and my husband still has a job, unlike so many others. Most importantly, we and our families and friends have not been afflicted with the virus, other than my great uncle (rest in peace, Uncle Bob.)

One of the many things I have been doing at home is reading a lot. I am currently reading the Bible, rereading the entire Little House on the Prairie Series with some friends in a book club and checking out some random books I have found around my house that I have not read yet. I have also been watching some TV, but not much, and listening to a great podcast called “Unashamed.” Finally, I realized I have actually talked to my friends and family to check in on them and catch up a little more than usual.

I have always loved quotes. I used to put up a quote a week for my students when I was teaching. I think that words are very powerful and can be quite inspirational.

Here are seven quotes that have had an impact on me over the past 70 days from various sources. I did not elaborate on them, for I think it is best when words can resonate with the person reading it better than by someone expanding on it. Plus, these quotes pretty much stand on their own. I hope they have an impact on you as well and make your day a little brighter!

“Practice God reliance, not government reliance.” – from Phil Robertson on his “Unashamed Podcast”

“It is not good to speak of things you have not seen.” – from “Dan” a character in Neither Wolf Nor Dog one of the greatest books I have ever read. It is by Kent Nerburn if you are interested!

“Sometimes you’ve got to do what you’re supposed to do, not what you want to do.” – from Grover, character in Neither Wolf, Nor Dog.

“Well, Caroline, it is pleasant to be with a crowd of people all trying to do the right thing, same as we are.” – from Pa Ingalls from On the Banks of Plum Creek

“Whatever happens, conduct yourself in a manner worthy of Christ.” -Philippians 1:27.

“God needs you elsewhere.” – from my dear friend, Melanie, supporting me when I found out that I lost my job for next year.

“I like being quarantined with you.” – from my sweet husband. I know I married the right person since we are still enjoying each other’s company after 70 straight days!
